At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. – Luke 10: 21
Oi. I just can’t seem to get this one-life-to-live, you-better-make-it-right thing, well…right. Just when I think, “Yep, I got this…I read, I study, I lead, I join, I do the things,” my Abba, our God, says, “Nopes…not quite, daughter.”
As I emerged from a lengthy wilderness season, God surrounded me with beautiful women who have asked me to join them at the table whether through a new ministry, or leading bible study, or just videos of encouragement and prayer – it has been such an honor and privilege to be a part of their lives and to witness God do what He does through the waiting.
But…just when I thought I knew exactly what God taught me, He wasn’t quite finished. Using other Ezers (women – that’s you), my bearded beauty, and sweet friends, He said, “Daughter, I’m not done with you, yet. It is time for you to get real.” – okay, those weren’t His exact words, but you get the idea.
The real lesson through the wilderness, exodus, and feeling pretty darn good about life wasn’t what I thought at all. It reared its ugly head again: P.R.I.D.E. Ugh – not again. I was hiding behind what I thought I knew to be strong, independent, and worthy to lead.
However “wise” and “learned” I thought I was, wasn’t learned wisdom at all. I needed to come back to Him fully and completely in full submission to Who He is…not who I thought I was. And like a little child, as wise friends asked me about life and marriage and the bearded beauty, I went before God for His good wisdom and instruction. God revealed to me more than I asked…including that I had allowed my fear of man to close my heart to God’s wisdom and instruction on what it meant to be a true Ezer…a true warrior of God and His kingdom. I had puffed up my own knowledge of strength instead of fully submitting to God’s good and perfect plan. I was still allowing the pain of my past, misguided direction, and puffed up knowledge to lead my understanding instead of coming before Abba as His child.
Daughters, Sisters, Friends – I am grateful that God, our creator and Abba, doesn’t want us wise and learned, He just wants us as His children – ready and eager to learn and love and spend time with Him and before Him. He wants us in fellowship with others who lift us up and encourage us and also offer wise counsel and discernment as God’s children.
I am grateful that He isn’t done with me yet. I am grateful that He will always be working through the Spirit to sanctify me. I pray that I (and you) am always willing to come before Him as His little children…ready and eager to be with the Father.
Always His…
XOXO, Loni
