Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28: 19-20
Oh, friends. I had the very best vacation. I was with friends and family, and the sun was sunny, and the beach was beachy, and I got to lead my youngest into baptism. My heart was bursting.
I love baptisms and other’s testimonies and journeys that led them to choosing Christ and then outwardly sharing that with others through baptism. It is truly something to be experienced as a participant and observer. So, when the youngest asked a few months ago about baptism, it led to many conversations about why and what it meant to her and how important choosing baptism is as an outward demonstration of following Jesus. We read scripture and prayed and prepared for her big day, which would happen at the beach in front of those so dear to us (even Aunt Dusty on face time).
It was so special, and as I prayed for her verse (let your light shine, girl) and what to share, Matthew 28:19-20 appeared: …GO and make disciples…
In the moment, it was so obvious that this meant for her. The youngest is filled with joy…sweet, sweet joy of Christ (again, let that light shine, my girl). She lives loved. She is already doing the good work. It was her boldness and obedience that led her to asking about baptism and her excitement and passion for others to want to share that experience at the beach (the waves weren’t cooperating so the pool had to do). She was ready to GO!
But as I sat and looked through the pictures from that special day, thought about the week and the prayers I’ve been praying (for a bible study or to be invited), JUST GO came to me again. Just go. And then as I shared an answered prayer with a friend, she messaged me in capital letters…JUST GO.
Friends, JUST GO. What is preventing you from fully committing to Christ? What is making you hesitate to ask if you can be invited instead of waiting for the invite or beginning something new? Why not ask the friend to church? Why not be bold and trust God with whatever passion, gift, or calling He has placed on you? He doesn’t call the equipped – He equips the called.
JUST GO. And know that He is with you to the end of the age.
XOXO, Loni
